Young Club Tijuana footballers stranded in Colombia after earthquake
The members of Leyendas Obeliz, from Tijuana, traveled to Armenia, Colombia, to participate in an international youth football tournament. With just 11 years old, the children managed to lift the trophy and return home as champions; however, when it seemed that everything was over, a strong earthquake changed their plans completely.
What happened?
An earthquake of magnitude 7.4 caused damage in various regions of Colombia and complicated the mobility of the Mexican delegation. The children remain stranded in Colombian territory along with other members of their group, while they seek a way to return to Mexico.
Why it matters for Club Tijuana?
The concern grows among their relatives, who hope that the young people can return home as soon as possible. The children have already achieved the feat on the pitch: they crowned themselves champions far from home. Now they will have to face a completely different challenge, far from football and without a trophy to show for it: to return safely to their families.

The delegation plans to make a journey of approximately six hours by car to Bogotá, where they would seek an alternative to take a flight back to Tijuana. Meanwhile, the concern grows among their relatives, who hope that the young people can return home as soon as possible.
